Asti is a city to be discovered. Almost neglected until a few years ago by the official tourist itineraries, it is seeing a gradual increase in the influx of travelers from Italy and abroad thanks to its splendid historic center, cradle of the verses of the great playwright Vittorio Alfieri.

Built by the Romans with the name of Hasta, it was a medieval town of great importance, a crossroads of trade between Italy and the rest of Europe.

Known throughout the world for its wines, and in particular for Asti Spumante, it is the seat of the most important wine competition in Italy, the Douja d'Or.

Also famous is its historic Palio, which has medieval roots linked to the patronal celebrations dedicated to San Secondo, and culminates in the race of horses mounted bareback, ie without saddle.

In recent years, the great Festival of Astigiane Festivals has become increasingly important, a food and wine event that involves over 40 municipalities in the province with their typical products.

But Asti is much more than this: rich in cultural spaces that host theater festivals, literary and musical reviews, it offers those who allow themselves to spend time in its historic center enchanting views, quality trattorias and wine bars, districts rich in history, each with its own peculiarity. There is no shortage of monuments of historical and cultural interest: from the splendid Cathedral, considered the most important in Gothic style in all of Piedmont, the collegiate church of San Secondo, where the relics of the saint are kept,  the church of Viatosto which overlooks the whole city offering a breathtaking view. It is also rich in medieval towers, Renaissance remains and recently restored Baroque palaces which have become the seat of modern and contemporary art museums and exhibitions: among the most important we mention Palazzo Ottolenghi, Palazzo Mazzetti, the Palazzo Civico.

From the Roman period, the Red Tower, probable vestige of the western gate of the Roman walls, the domus of Via Varrone, the remains of the amphitheater, the baths and the forum are still present.

The crypts of Sant'Anastasio, San Secondo (VII century) in which the body of the patron saint and San Giovanni are preserved are of considerable interest from the Romanesque period.

In the city there are also some nature reserves, such as Valle Andona, Valle Botto and Val Grande, in addition to the WWF reserve and oasis Villa Paolina.

A few minutes from Asti there is also the Il Feudo estate, a beautiful park with golf courses surrounded by nature.

We will be happy to guide you to discover Asti and its beauties through itinerary proposals and useful advice according to your needs.

You can choose between peaceful naturalistic walks in the Natural Reserves, the paths of the Via Francigena, the itineraries between the Romanesque churches and the vineyards, the literary and religious paths, from the hazelnut path in Castellero to that of the Cinque Torri in Langa Astigiana, from the places of Don Bosco to those of the great poets Vittorio Alfieri and Cesare Pavese.
